Dr. Jeyifous was nominated and selected as the College of Science and Health (CSH) Faculty Mentor of the Year!
May 2025
Zainab Ibrahim, a new member of the lab, was awarded a CSH Undergraduate Summer Research Program (USRP) fellowship! Her project is titled, “Intracellular Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors (nAChRs) and Calcium Signaling”.
Ash Duffee, another new member of the lab, was awarded a prestigious Nu Rho Psi Undergraduate Research Grant. Her research project is titled, “Synaptic plasticity, local translation and the role of Golgi satellites in glycan processing”. Congratulations and welcome to both of you! Dr. Jeyifous was nominated for a Quality of Instruction Council (QIC) Excellence in Teaching Award.
November 2024
Val Phillip Lorejo and Isabella Diaz were both awarded URAP awards by the College of Science and Health to conduct research in the lab! Their research project is titled, “Golgi Satellites and Synaptic Plasticity in Neurodevelopmental Disorders". Congrats to you both!
Summer 2024
Two new students, Ravinder Singh and Alyssa Rodriguez, recently joined the lab to conduct summer research. Both students received research funding for their projects. Alyssa was awarded an IL-LSAMP fellowship, and Ravinder, a DePaul URAP award. They will utilize the funding to continue the lab’s research on measuring activity-dependent changes in the glycosylation of synaptic proteins. Congratulations and welcome to both of you!

Dr. Jeyifous was nominated for a Quality of Instruction Council (QIC) Excellence in Teaching Award!
He also spoke to DePaul Magazine about his recent efforts at fusing his research and artistic interests into a formal practice (check out this online extra as well). He created the “cellphie” below using his cheek cells as an overlay on his self-portrait photo.

Dede is a Student of the Year finalist in the Neuroscience Program! She has had a fantastic academic career at DePaul and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors! Here she is presenting her summer research findings at the IL-LSAMP conference this past February:

Very pleased to contribute as a co-author to a new report in Nature Communications from the Dickinson Lab at the University of Chicago. Their work highlights a new methodological approach to upregulate the translation of mRNAs of interest in different tissue systems.

We welcomed the first members of the Jeyifous Lab, Dede Assadji and Juliet Peterka! Both students received funding to conduct research in the lab this summer.
